A Montana elk hunting vacation awaits as you
experience the natural splendor of wilderness elk hunting in the heart of Big Sky
Country.
Our base camp at Hahn Creek is right beside
Young's Creek, one of the tributaries to the world famous
South Fork of the Flathead River.
September and October offer fantastic fly
fishing.
Your combination permit includes a fishing
license, so you can throw in a beak-down fishing rod or fly
rod and try your hand at some West-Slope cutthroats if you
get your elk early in the week.

Hunting adventures with Lake Upsata |
Montana Wilderness Elk Hunting
Welcome to Montana elk hunting like you've
always dreamed of. All our hunts will
leave from the Monture trailhead, just North
of Ovando. We will match you
with a horse and saddle, and as soon as our
guides load all your gear onto our pack
string, we're off! Our hunters go over
Young's Pass, which takes about 5 1/2
hours riding time. Not a bad ride at
all! . Arrival time in camp is late
afternoon.
Once we’re in camp, the rest of the first
day is spent getting settled in. From
the next morning, you’ll hunt for 7
days. All of our hunts are 2 on 1,
unless special arrangements have been made.
You'll be rifle hunting during the elk rut,
so be ready for a bull elk charging right
through the timber towards you! We
also have great mule deer hunting on the
high ridges, and your combination license
will allow you to hunt for grouse and fish
the pristine waters of Young's Creek.
Please give us a call- references available
upon request!!
Availability of hunts
is strictly a ‘first come – first serve’ basis.
Hunter’s may indicate their date preference when a
deposit is received. First hunt of 2012 will
start September 14th.
Due
to the passage of citizens
initiative I-161 on November 2nd
2010, the guaranteed outfitter
sponsored license is no longer
available in Montana. All licenses
issued in 2011 were on a random
draw. However, the non-resident
combination license(elk/deer/fishing)
had a 100% success rate in the draw
and there was around 800 licenses
still available through the fall
hunting season. For the 2012 season,
I anticipate a 100% success rate for
the combination license as well,
providing your application is
submitted prior to the March 15th
deadline.
Montana also has a new preference
point system that allows 75% of the
licenses to go to the applicants
with the highest amount of
preference points. Give me a call
and I can help you through the
application process.

Here's what you need to bring with you:
 |
Good, warm
sleeping bag. (temperature can dip below zero,
so bring a bag rated for cold weather) We
provide cots and pads. |
 |
Rifle and
ammunition. Call if you're unsure here. |
 |
Binoculars /
Knife / Small pack / Camera and film if
desired / whatever personal hunting kit items
you would normally carry. Be prepared! |
 |
Plenty of warm
clothing- bring clothing that you can layer.
Polypro long underwear is great, and wool is
always the best. Don’t forget a good warm hat
and at least 2 pair of gloves. |
 |
Good Boots! A
good pair of leather boots, broken in, and a
rubber soled, insulated boot for walking in
snow. This is critical; if you don’t have good
boots right now, start thinking about it
today. Buy them and start wearing them. |
