Drop Floats:

Lake Upsata Outfitters is one of a select number of outfitting businesses in the Bob Marshall Complex permitted to take private clients to the headwaters of the South Fork of the Flathead River for private float trips.  We will not guide you down the river, but we will get you to the headwaters.  Floating the river is best from early July to early August, and, depending on the snow pack from the previous winter, occasionally in late June.  The ride from either Monture (28 miles) or Lodgepole (23 miles) takes all day.  Plan on getting to the river late in the afternoon or evening and starting your float the next day. 

2009 Cost- per person @ $725.00. 

This includes your packing crew, one pack animal and one riding horse per person.  Additional pack animals are $300.00 per animal.

For those that choose to hike in, we provide custom packing services to fit your needs.  This is a "one cost" approach to get all your gear to the river.   This includes your packing crew and 6 pack animals.  If you don't require 6 animals for all your gear, deduct $100 for each unused animal.  Again, no riding cost included here.  You must have someone from your party at an agreed upon location when the pack string arrives.  We cannot leave your gear unattended.

Custom string cost is $1000 per day, including return days.
